Top 25 Wrestlers in WrestleMania History #25-14

22 Feb

In honor of the upcoming WrestleMania 25, InGameNow is covering the silver anniversary of the WWE’s marquee event. Here are the top 25 wrestlers to ever appear in a WrestleMania. The criteria for selection is quite simple: a wrestler has to appear in a WrestleMania. His entire career will be considered.

25. Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho is the first person to ever be the Undisputed Champion in pro wrestling history. Y2J has held the WWE Intercontinental Championship a record 8 times. While Jericho has had an impressive career, he lacks the WTF moment in WrestleMania. Here is a clip of Chris Jericho from WM 19, where he drops a match to Shawn Michaels.

24. The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase

DiBiase has been a WWE tag team champion and the 1988 King of the Ring. What is most impressive about DiBiase, is his creating the Million Dollar Championship. Rumor has it, the Million Dollar Belt cost $40,000. Nobody cut interviews better than The Million Dollar Man (especially with Virgil standing next to him holding $100 bills) Here is a video of Ted DiBiase winning the Million Dollar Belt at WrestleMania 6 over Jake “The Snake” Roberts

23. Sid Vicious

Sid has also been known as Sid Justice and Psyco Sid. Sid was a four time Heavyweight Champion. He won titles in both the WWE and WCW. While most of our videos are of WrestleMania matches, we couldn’t resist showing why Vicious left pro wrestling at a young age.

22. Randy Orton

At 24, Randy Orton became the youngest wrestler to ever hold the WWE Title. Son of Cowboy Bob Orton, Randy has spent his entire life around wrestling. Look for Orton to be a major part of WrestleMania 25. Here is video of Randy Orton winning the WWE title at WrestleMania 24 over Triple H and John Cena.

21. The Iron Sheik

The Iron Sheik beat Bob Backlund to win the WWE Championship. Four weeks later, The Iron Sheik lost the belt to Hulk Hogan, one of the biggest days in Hulkimania history. In the first ever WrestleMania, The Iron Sheik won the WWE tag team championship (with Nikolai Volkoff) There is no question that The Iron Sheik is Iran’s best wrestler (and Iran’s funniest person to ever appear on Howard Stern) Here is a Wrestlemania 17 video, where The Iron Sheik wins the gimmick battle royal.

20. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat

One of the better NWA and WCW wrestlers, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat spent some time in the WWE. In what was arguably the best technical match in WWE history, Ricky Steamboat beat The Macho Man Randy Savage for the Intercontinental Title. Here is video of the epic WrestleMania 3 match up between Steamboat and Savage (make sure to check out Ms. Elizabeth and George “The Animal” Steel)

19. Yokozuna

Yokozuna won the 1993 Royal Rumble, the first year the winner of the Royal Rumble received a title shot at Wrestlemania. While managed by Mr. Fuji, Yokozuna won both the Heavyweight Championship and the Tag Team Championship twice. He is possibly the heaviest wrestler to compete in the WWE. Here is video of Yokozuna beating Bret Hart in WrestleMania 9.

18. Ultimate Warrior

The Ultimate Warrior was by far the most high energy wrestler to ever enter the ring. Do to conflicts with Vince McMahon, The Ultimate Warrior left the WWE way too early. The Ultimate Warrior holds one of the greatest victories of all time, beating Hulk Hogan in Wrestlemania 6. That match pitted the Warrior’s intercontinental title against Hulk Hogan’s Heavyweight Championship. Here is video of the WrestleMania 6 match up between Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior.

17. Goldberg

Goldberg entered the world of Professional Wrestling after a short stint with the Atlanta Falcons. Bill Goldberg had the most impressive start of any wrestler ever, beginning his career 173-0. His most notable win was #108, over Hulk Hogan (wrestling as Hollywood Hogan). Kevin Nash ended up ending Goldberg’s streak. Goldberg had Wrestlemania success when he beat Brock Lesnar in WrestleMania 20. Here is video of Goldberg giving the Jackhammer to Big Show (wrestling as The Giant)

16. Batista

Batista is a 4 time Heavyweight Champion. Batista has also held the Tag Team titles 4 times. While currently out with a hammy, Batista has had great WrestleMania success. Here is video of Batista defeating Triple H in the main event of Wrestlemania 21.

15. Chris Benoit

Chris Benoit’s great wrestling career will always be overshadowed by his tragic death, where he killed his wife and son, before taking his own life. The WWE has tried to erase Benoit from their history books. Many consider the Canadian Crippler one of the best technical wrestlers to ever step into the squared inch circle. Here is video of Chris Benoit winning the Heavyweight title at WrestleMania 20 over Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

14. Mick Foley

One of the most loved wrestlers in WWE history, Mick Foley wrestled as Cactus Jack, Dude Love, and Mankind. Foley was the first ever WWE Hardcore Champion, and a 3 time Heavyweight Champion. He formed one of the greatest tag teams in WWE history, when he teamed with The Rock to form The Rock and Sock Connection. What Foley lacked in physical skills, he more than made up for in mic skills and toughness. Foley is truly a WWE hardcore legend. Here is video of Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie beating The New Age Outlaws at WrestleMania 14.
