Tony Romo Treats Homeless Man To Movie

This week we’ve read about Donovan McNabb not knowing the basic rules of the NFL, Adam Jones reinstated after another suspension and Chad Johnson deactivated for the Cincinnati Bengals’ game against the Pittsburgh Steelers for breaking team rules.
Just another typical week for the NFL and its players.
Thankfully, Dallas Cowboy quarterback Tony Romo is doing something atypical for a NFL player. Romo’s making positive headlines.
According to sources, Romo bought a homeless man a ticket to see a movie at a theater in Dallas.
If that wasn’t enough, Romo invited the homeless man, who goes by the name of Doc, to sit next to him and his friend during the flick.
Doc, who hadn’t showered for a few days, expressed concern that he might stink.
“Don’t worry about that,” Romo said. “I’m used to locker rooms.”
Fittingly, Romo and Doc watched the comedy Role Model.
Certainly, Romo isn’t the only Good Samaritan in the NFL, and of course being quarterback for the NFL’s marquee team makes this news. If Matt Hasselbeck had done this, it would have gone unreported.
Cynicism aside, it’s refreshing to hear an NFL player associated with doing something good than hearing another story about an NFL player doing something bad.
Also, this isn’t Romo’s first time at paying it forward. On the way home from the Cowboys’ season opener, the $67 million quarterback changed a couple’s flat tire.
As for Romo’s response, he confirmed the incident but refused to comment. The Cowboy’s signal caller knows when to keep his mouth close.
“For me, it was a blessing,” Doc told the Dallas Morning News. “It came at just the right time. It gave me some encouragement and faith in mankind.”
Romo’s gesture has given us all encouragement and faith that there is some humanity in professional athletes.
