This Week’s 3 Best Football Highlights (That Weren’t Plays)

Most people watch football for the hard hits and scoring, which means that this week most people missed some of the best action between the downs. Both in the college and NFL ranks, tv commentators took a few liberties with their mics still hot, which always make for great bloopers. In a more premeditated play, Chad Ochocino was up to this antics again. All three incidents are worthy of video recognition:

Chad Ochocinco Tries to Bribe the Refs

You gotta love a guy with the chutzpah to send deodorant gift baskets to the guys trying to tackle him days before the game. Not willing to conclude The Chad Show with only pre-game hype, Ochocinco visibly tried to grease the officials with a dollar bill during a referee conference. It got picked up online by Total Pro Sports:

Richmond’s Kicker is a Bum

We’re not sure if this is the commentator, or the wrong guy just happens to have a live mic near his face. Either way, you can hear the pessimism foreshadowing the kick @ 0:24 when the voice says “He’s gonna miss it”. Well, the voice wasn’t very happy when the kicker actually fulfilled said prophecy (includes NSFW language):

Chris Collinsworth Hocks up a Loogie

Late during last night’s SNF game with Dallas at Philly, I thought I was the only one who heard a guttural noise just as a play was starting. Thankfully millions of viewers realized at the same time I did that it’s just the surround sound, and not somebody giving their living room carpet a spit shine. It quickly made the blogosphere, thanks to NESW Sports and twitterers like Lilpwny:

And if it makes you laugh, is that so bad? This is easily Collinsworth’s biggest football highlight since 1983.
