The Oakland Raiders Are Big in Asia

If there are 2 places in the world we can depend on for a good dosage of random, they are 1) Asia and 2) the Oakland Raiders’ front office. So it makes perfect sense that the Raiders are sponsoring at least two Airbus A340s on Air Asia X, a carrier that does not even fly to the US.

We imagine there is some method to the madness. The Raiders want to export their quality product across borders. I get it. Last time I was in London, the easiest way to spot an American was to find somebody wearing an American sports team other than the default Yankees. The Raiders want to be that go-to brand. So next time you’re in Singapore, look out for the kid in JaMarcus Russell jersey (and Yankees cap).

The planes below have been seen at London’s Stansted Airport, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore. As of now, residents of either city believe the Raiders are led by Captain Jack Sparrow and their plane is the Black Pearl. Disney appreciates the free pub.
