The LFL’s Michelle Stevens talks Wardrobe Malfunctions
10 Sep
Michelle Stevens, the face of the Lingerie Football League’s Miami Caliente, sat down with InGameNow to talk about her experience playing in the first LFL game ever. In the LFL season opener, the Caliente lost to the host Chicago Bliss, 29-19. Michelle is not your typical bra and panty football player….the running back has 2 kids, a MASTERS DEGREE, and an interesting take on the LFL.

InGameNow: It was a very impressive game on Friday night. It was clear from the crowds reaction that everybody in the stadium loved it. How much fun did the girls have on the field?
Michelle Stevens: We were all very much excited to be there. We have been practicing against each other since May and we were definitely ready to play against another team; the day we were all working towards had FINALLY arrived. Also, this was the opening game of the inaugural season…we are a part of history in the making, how could we not be excited about that!?!?

IGN: There were lots of accusations of dirty play on the field. In your opinion, which Lingerie Football player is the dirtiest?
Michelle: I must have watched the game at least 6 times over at this point and every time I watched it I caught another kick, punch, or elbow thrown that I missed the time before. I think it would be very unfair for me to single out one player as the “dirtiest”. Although, what I can say, at least in my opinion, was the “dirtiest” play of the game was when our QB, Anonka Dixon, had her bra top ripped off. Three girls from Chicago jumped on her after the play was already over and shredded her top to pieces. There she sat, topless on the field, and for no other reason than she is an unbelievable player and a huge threat to Chicago’s defense…they wanted to take her out of the game.
IGN: Dropping the first game to Chicago must have been a heartbreak. What can Miami do to improve for your next game against Philadelphia?
Michelle: Although this loss was a disappointment for us it was also an eye opener for the team and a good opportunity for us to learn and grow. We all made mistakes and we can all learn a lot from watching the film and see where we need to improve in every aspect of the game. For starters, we need to work on our blocking, both on our offensive and defensive sides as well as tackling. I also think our offense needs to have the option of more than one receiver down field, Chicago caught on quick and Tina had 3 and 4 girls on top of her at once. We have a lot of talent and great coaches leading the team, I am positive that we will come back big in Philly and bring home a win.

IGN: It was clear that the Chicago Bliss outweighed the Caliente by a significant amount. Do you think there should be a maximum player weight? And if so, where would you set the bar?
Michelle: Listen, this is a Lingerie Football League…LINGERIE Football League…CLEARLY there should be some sort of size limit. I think it would be difficult to set a weight limit though because there are so many variables that come in to play. I mean, obviously a women who is 5′2 at 130 lbs. is going to look a lot different than a women who is 5′7 at 130 lbs. so how do you make it so cut and dry in terms of weight? So I’ll just say I think there should be some sort of SIZE limit and leave it at that!

IGN: How does it feel to be the hottest MILF in the LFL?
Michelle: Well, that’s very flattering, but how about the hottest Mom….actually, how about I’m just HOT! Caliente rather….I’ll take that ;-)

IGN: Chicago had by far the best TD dance (one player rode another player like a horse)….What can Miami do to spice up the TD celebrations?
Michelle: Personally, I don’t think Miami needs to spice up anything…but if you weren’t pleased with our touchdown celebrations, stayed tuned because I guarantee you there will be many, many more touchdown dances in the future so just you wait and see!

IGN: About 5 minutes into the game, I realized that all of the Bliss players had bra’s on under their uniform, while the Caliente did not. Would you say the potential for a wardrobe malfunction adds to the game, or is disrespectful to the players? Before you answer, keep in mind that I am now a huge Caliente fan….you girls are the best!
Michelle: I would be lying if I said I didn’t think that the possibility of a wardrobe malfunction draws in the crowd, in fact, that’s probably the most asked interview question I’ve been subjected to…BUT I think our ability to play and the excitement we add to the game of football will be what keeps the fans coming back in the long run.
IGN: The next LFL game is Friday night, with the San Diego Seduction visiting the Seattle Mist. Any advice to those teams?
Michelle: Keep your head in the game, stay focused, and pay attention to what’s happening on the field rather than the side lines. Feed off the crowd’s positive energy but don’t let them distract you from doing your job. As my Coach Pat always says, “Do your fu@*ing job!” If everyone does their job, your chances of winning are that much greater.
