The 9 Best Hockey Fights of The 1970’s
21 May

Hockey in the 1970’s couldn’t get much better. Great goals. Even better mustaches. And then you have the fights. With so many bench clearing brawls, it’s almost a disappointment when only two guys drop the gloves. Here are nine more reasons why hockey is the greatest sport ever.
Chicago Blackhawks vs. Boston Bruins
A solid brawl to kick things off. Everybody wins when the benches clear!
Philadelphia Flyers vs. Buffalo Sabres
Another good tussle. Both Buffalo and Philadelphia display the importance of teamwork by making sure every player throws a punch.
New York Rangers vs. Philadelphia Flyers
A good two-for-one. What starts as a full-scale brawl develops into a good one-on-one scrap at the 1:20 mark.
Boston Bruins vs. New York Rangers
This fight spills into the crowd, effectively making it the greatest fight ever. Jermaine O’Neal and Ron Artest could learn a thing or two from the 1970’s Boston Bruins.
Philadelpiha Flyers vs. New York Islanders
Decent as far as brawls go, but personally, I’d like to see a little more effort from the combatants.
Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Vancouver Canucks
Not a full-scale brawl, but Jim Dorey basically beats the wheels off of Pat Quinn so it’s worth a watch
New York Rangers vs. Boston Bruins
This is a textbook brawl. These guys go from having words to throwing hands in about three seconds.
Boston Bruins vs. Montreal Canadiens
Two of the biggest rivals in all of sports, so it’s no wonder that they would take time out from a friendly game of hockey to punch each other in the face.
Philadelphia Flyers vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
Just call this one “The Flyers don’t like to be scored upon.” It’s a shame we don’t see more of this in pro sports.
Hockey: A Gentleman’s game.
