Time to Put These Teams On Ice
1. USC (#6 AP, #4 USA Today)
USC has no BIG wins, that are impressive at this point in the season. I know they crushed Ohio State. BUT, Ohio State didn’t have their star running back, which at this point in the season is proving to be their only every down option. Without him Ohio States offense has looked stagnate, ranking 108th in passing offense and 70th in scoring. USC also looked terrible against Oregon State. Their only saving grace is that the Beavers have lost to two ranked teams in Penn State and Utah. Unfortunately, the Beavers only have one real game left against #25 California, and they are not going to win out so at this point they are fighting to be bowl eligable.
2. Texas Tech (#7 AP, #5 USA Today)
Texas Tech has played no one yet, and already had one overtime game (at Nebraska). They have looked dominant against the likes of Eastern Washington (lost to Portland State and is 2-4) and Southern Methodist (1-6, their only win is against Texas State and they are 0-4 in Conference USA)… oh I almost forgot Massachusetts( lost to James Madison, and beat Holy Cross by 3 and Northeastern by 4). Talk to me about Texas Tech after they run the gauntlet @ #16 Kansas, #1 Texas, #8 Oklahoma State, and #4 Oklahoma.
3. Georgia (#10 AP, #9 USA Today)
Their only game against a ranked opponent was a loss AT HOME. Other than that they have beaten the likes of Georgia Southern (1-2 in conference play… in SoCon the terrible Southern Conference in which Elon stands atop at 4-0) and Central Michigan. Georgia schedule was set up to show how good they were, unfortunately Tennessee is not that good; South Carolina is spuratic at best, and Auburn has been a terrible dissapointment. If Georgia wins their next three games against Vandy, LSU, and Florida I was give them another look. Until then, enough of the Georgia bandwagon. I am not on it now, I wasn’t when the season started, and I won’t be on it the rest of the season.
