Shaquille O’Neal to host WWE’s Monday Night Raw

Recently, in a WWE storyline, Donald Trump bought and sold Raw over the course of two weeks. During his time as owner of the WWE’s flagship program, Trump eliminated the roll of a full time GM, bringing in a guest GM. Shaquille O’Neal is following in the steps of other recent celebrity guest hosts on Monday Night Raw, including Seth Green and ZZ Top.

Shaq is not the first pro athlete to venture into the square inch circle. Many have ventured to the ring before Shaq Fu. Besides athletes who turned into full time wrestlers (Goldberg, Kurt Angle, Jim “the Anvil” Neidhart) there have been many athletes who entered the ring for a short time. Here are a few instances.

Dennis Rodman vs. Karl Malone

Two of the biggest names, and bodies, in the NBA met up in the ring in one of the more hyped tag team matches in history. Props to Hollywood Hogan and DDP for selling this.

Pacman Jones

Pacman Jones spent a good portion of his NFL suspension in the wrestling world. Unfortunately, he was not allowed to actually wrestle.

Steve McMichael vs. Goldberg Starcade 1997

Former Chicago Bear Steve McMichael had a great run in pro wrestling. In this match, he is just another victim of Goldberg.

Floyd Mayweather

Floyd Mayweather lights up the Big Show (gets good at the 2:30 mark). It is baffling to see the difference in size between Mayweather and Big Show. Shaq will not have this problem if The Big Show gets in his face.
