One fashion trend the 2000s will be remembered for is dreadlocks. Think Lil Wayne. Think Ricky Williams. In the world of football, fans shirk at the painful idea of how long hair could become a liability. Luckily, Rutgers’ RB Jordan Brooks showed us the painful reality--a 62 yard run that ends with a touchdown prevented mostly by his flowing locks. Apparently when attacked, his dreadlocks detach like the segments of a centipede:
Of course there is precedent for hairy tackles. Troy Polamalu was pulled down by his mane 2 seasons ago. Both of these plays cost yards. I’m surprised the coaches haven’t cracked down on it yet. Horse collar tackles by the hair should be renamed “wrestling the lion”:
