Papajohns.com Bowl: NC State vs. Rutgers
7 Dec
In the Third Annual Papajohns.com Bowl, the North Carolina State Wolfpack are matched up against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Wolfpack finished the season 6-6, just barely getting past the bowl eligibility standard. They needed a winning streak of 4 straight games to finish the season, including wins over top 25 teams Wake Forest and North Carolina, to do so. In those last 4 games, the Wolfpack defense only allowed an average of 18 points per game. Freshman Russell Wilson stepped into the quarterback role and has had 1,769 yards and 16 touchdowns through the air.

Just like NC State, the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers had a strong finish to their season in order to become a participant in the Papajohns.com Bowl. They won the last 6 games, including a 54-34 victory against Pittsburgh. In 5 out of those 6 wins, the defense allowed less than 20 points in the game. Senior quarterback Mike Teel had 3,099 passing yards and 23 touchdowns.
