Meineke Car Care Bowl: West Virginia vs. North Carolina

West Virginia will play North Carolina in the Meineke Car Care Bowl on Dec 27 at 1pm EST. The game will be played in Charlotte, NC in Bank of America Stadium and televised on ESPN.

North Carolina improved by four games from last year, finishing the regular season at 8-4. They played the 10th-most difficult schedule as per the Sagarin rankings, and defeated 3 ranked teams along the way. This is North Carolina’s second appearance in this bowl game, having lost to Boston College 37-24 in 2004.

West Virginia was the preseason pick to win the Big East Conference, and finished with an 8-4 record. Their previous appearance in this bowl game was a 48-22 loss to Virginia in the inaugural game played in 2002.

This is just the second thime the two teams have played – North Carolina won the first 20-13 in the 1997 Gator Bowl.
