Liberty Bowl: Kentucky vs. East Carolina
6 Dec
Now, the final bowl selections are not final, however, reports are coming out that both the Liberty Bowl and the Music City Bowl are going to send invitations to Kentucky. Kentucky, in turn, is expected to accept the invitation to the Liberty Bowl, thus sending Vanderbilt to the Music City Bowl. It appears that the Wildcats’ opponent will be East Carolina behind upstart coach Skip Holtz.

Even after losing their last 3 games, Kentucky finished the season 6-6, thus barely keeping their eligibility to get an invitation to play post-season ball. The Wildcat offense has struggled this season and relies on their defense to keep the score down. However, Kentucky does have quite a diversified running attack with 4 players having at least 69 rushes this season.

East Carolina has been one of the big stories this year, along with Lou’s son Skip Holtz. The team that beat top 20 teams Virginia Tech and West Virginia to begin the year has had its ups and downs, but finished the season with 3 straight wins, including beating Tulsa today to become the Conference USA Champion. Senior quarterback Patrick Pinkney leads the Pirates with 2,257 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Skip Holtz should have his team ready to play Kentucky, but follow the news and the game on InGameNow.
