Day 2 of Best Sports Facial Hair – the Gotee Division

Day 1 voting for the Stache Division was tough, but Rollie Fingers and Goose Gossage look like they have the lead. Remember, you have to log in to InGameNow for your vote to count. As we move on, voting will still be tallied for the Stache Division, so be sure to make your vote count!Day 2 brings us to the Gotee Division, where either these guys don’t like the way their chins look or, like this blogger, are in the wrong era for anyone less than 40 to be sporting a mustache. So again, in no particular order, here are the representatives from the Gotee Division.  Please use the link below to vote!

Alexi Lalas – Lalas played professional soccer as a defender from 1994-2003 in both the United States and Italy. He also was a member of the United States soccer team from 1991-1998. Do you think this gotee was designed to distract the other team?

Jeff Bagwell – Bagwell holds the distinction of being probably the 3rd most talented prospect that the Red Sox have given up, behind Babe Ruth and Hanley Ramirez. By the end of his career, Bagwell earned 3 Silver Slugger Awards and the 1994 NL MVP.

Eric Gagne – Gagne has had his ups and downs during his MLB career. Going from a shaky starter to one of the most dominant closers during the 2002-2004 seasons, including winning the NL Cy Yound Award in 2003. In 2005, he had Tommy John surgery, and has never been quite the same since. But hey, at least he has the gotee and glasses!

Boone Logan – This was a fan selections that got added to the list. Logan is still young and has had a slow beginning to his career, but man, I wish I could grow facial hair like that!

Bobby Jenks – The closer for the White Sox has been a dominant addition to the team and almost unhittable by opponents. As Jenks stands 6′ 3″, weighs 275 pounds, and throws a 100-mph fastball, no one would dare give him crap to his face. But since he is not here, what is up with the pink gotee, Bobby?

Dustin Hermanson – Hermanson was a solid, but not spectacular reliever in the Major Leagues. He pitched for 6 teams over 12 years including the World Series Champion White Sox. Dustin must of had a creative side – just look at the finely tuned artwork on his chin.

Matt Stairs – Stairs has played for 12 professional baseball teams in his career, including 1 Japanese team. He has over 250 HRs and 850 RBIs in his 16 year career, and goes on this list for still sporting a gotee into his late 30s and beyond.

Scott Parker – Parker is known as an enforcer in the NHL, and I guess this gotee may be his attempt at intimidating his opponents. However, by the looks for this picture, one of yesterday’s contenders (Parros) is not backing down from the title of Best Sports Facial Hair!
