Colston Out 6 Weeks – Who You Should Pick Up

While Marques Colston recovers over the next six weeks from surgery on his left thumb, don’t expect Drew Brees to stop slinging the ball around the field.  While Devery Henderson is the obvious beneficiary from a fantasy perspective, he is already owned in most leagues and is notoriously inconsistent – keep in mind that he only had 1 catch last week and amazingly he only had more than 1 catch in 4 games all of last year.  Not the track record you look for in a starting position player.

David Patten on the other hand is solid route runner with great hands who, in stark contrast to Devery, caught multiple balls in all but one game in 2007.  Don’t expect an Eddie Royal style break-out here, but do expect Brees to turn to Patten early and often as he tries to keep the Saints offense moving in Colston’s absence.  Pick-up Patten if you can.
