Andy Kennedy Arrested for Assault

18 Dec

The head basketball coach of Ole Miss, Andy Kennedy, was arrested earlier today and charged with assault. The incident apparently took place in Cincinnati, where the Rebels were in town for the SEC/Big East Invitational Tournament. A Cincinnati cab driver reported that Kennedy punched him and shouted racial slurs at him. In Hamilton County Municipal Court, Kennedy’s attorney entered a not guilty plea, and Kennedy denies the allegations. It is unknown whether the cab driver is a Louisville fan, who the Rebels play tonight.

Mississippi is off to a 7-3 record to start the 2008-2009 season, with junior guard David Huertas averaging 21 points per game. Hopefully, this off-court distraction doe not ruin the momentum to begin their season.
